Pepe Claramunt receives honorary award from Ajuntament de Puçol for his legendary career at Valencia CF

Tendillo, Fernando Giner, Sempere and Payá were present at this event held within the framework of the ‘Año Claramunt’

Valencianista legend Pepe Claramunt has been presented with the honorary award from l’Ajuntament de Puçol in recognition of a lifetime dedicated to sport. An event, framed within the ‘Año Claramunt’, which was also attended by our ambassador, Miguel Tendillo.

The event was also attended by Fernando Giner -president of the AFVCF-, José Manuel Sempere -VCF legend- and Antonio Payá -former VCF player-, as well as Paz Carceller -mayor of Puçol- and Pepa Deogracia -Councillor for Sports-.

Pepe Claramunt was one of the most important players in the history of Valencia CF. Valencian, captain, international, undisputed starter and one of the best midfielders of the team at Mestalla and of national and international football. He wore the Valencia CF jersey for twelve seasons, during which he played almost 450 matches and scored 90 goals, in addition to winning the Copa in 1967 and the spectacular Liga title in the 1970-71 season.

At international level, he made his debut with just 22 years of age for the Spain senior national team and such was his level that he became the first Valencian captain with ‘La Roja’. He played 23 matches and scored 4 goals.
